Vice-Chair & Treasurer

The Vice-Chair & Treasurer will assist the chair with their day-to-day tasks; Assign an individual to chair AGMs, HGMs; record all minutes from every Hall and Committee meeting and make them available to all hall members; collate Meeting agendas; being prepared to act as Hall Chair where the Chair is unavailable; Create and manage the hall budget in partnership with other committee members; manage purchasing and spending across sections.

Pratishtha Dangi

I believe a great Hall Committee belongs to its residents. It should be organised, transparent and genuinely accountable to the community it serves.
As Vice-Chair, I will work closely with the Chair to support the day-to-day running of the committee, ensure meetings are productive and keep communication clear. From maintaining accessible meeting records to stepping in when the Chair is unavailable, I am ready to take responsibility and provide reliable support.
As Treasurer, my focus is financial clarity and responsible management. I will work collaboratively to manage the Hall budget, maintain accurate financial records and oversee purchasing and expenditure across sections, ensuring funds are allocated thoughtfully and deliver the best possible value for residents.
But a Hall shouldn’t just be managed; it should be lived in. I want to bridge the gap between administration and student life by listening to residents and helping turn their ideas into action. Whether supporting resident-led socials, introducing Hall-wide challenges or exploring small incentives, I want to make our Hall an even more engaging place to live.
Ultimately, I want to be an advocate for our residents: someone who listens, takes initiative and follows through.

Charlie Slade

I am running for Vice Chair to help ensure Rutherford Hall is organised, well-managed and provides the best experience for its members.
If elected, I will support the Chair, keep meetings productive, ensure clear communication and help manage the Hall's budget responsibly. I will bring a reliable, proactive approach to the role and be prepared to step up whenever needed.

Joel Defor

I am confident that I will be a solid candidate for Vice Chair as I have a speciality in assisting. From being Deputy Head Boy in secondary school to being an assistant leader of our Christian Faith Group in sixth form, I have been called on many times to assist the leader in various activities such as the planning of events and the sorting of finances. Whenever my help has been called upon, I have made sure to deliver, showing that I am a reliable source of help. I am also familiar of the art of leading. Especially in my time of being promoted to Head Boy in secondary school, more responsibility was laid on me. Workloads became heavier, yet still I completed whatever was needed of me without a fuss or a complaint. These characteristics of mine are still strong to this day as I am still called on to assist frequently, which highlights the fact that I provide a credible helping hand. I can think on my feet, I don’t crumble under pressure, and I am very confident that these traits of mine will show forth, should I receive the role of Vice Chair.

Social Secretary

The social secretary will be required to be responsible for all social activities of the hall, providing a range of different events; Work with external partners to organise events and promote Local Businesses in Loughborough; Responsible for Hall Day, Winter and Summer Ball, Freshers and Re-Freshers; Consult and work closely with Warden team and Chairs.

Bhakti Shah

Having served as a Vice Captain and member of the PSLT, I've spent over a year organising events, leading initiatives, and bringing people together. The most rewarding parts of my role by far was seeing people build friendships and feel part of a community.
As Social Secretary, I want to create more than just a calendar of events. I want Rutherford to be known as the hall where everyone feels welcome and involved. I hope that everyone leaves with memories they'll talk about and cherish long after university. I strongly believe that the best events aren't just the biggest ones, they're the ones where everyone feels included and leaves with new memories and friendships.
Alongside Freshers, Re-Freshers, Hall Day, Winter Ball, and Summer Ball, I would introduce themed socials, collaborations with local businesses, inter-hall competitions, and casual events that give people opportunities to meet others outside their usual friendship groups. My focus will be on creating a mix of events so there's genuinely something for everyone.
University flies by, and I want to help make sure Rutherford is remembered for its atmosphere, its community, and the people in it. Up the Rudd!

Sports Secretary

(2 positions available) The Sports Secretary will promote Intramural sport; Organise teams for ODE's and weekly league games; Manage sales and inventory of IMS kit; Book sports pitches for training and additional events; Attend trainings and meetings training.

Stephen Wilson

My vision as Rutherford Hall Sports Secretary is to build a stronger sporting community where everyone feels encouraged, included and proud to represent our hall. Having previously served as Sports Captain at my school, I understand the importance of bringing people together through sport, motivating others and creating a positive team environment. I want to build on the great work already done and bring my own enthusiasm and commitment to the role. I want to encourage everyone to get involved in the sporting opportunities already available, regardless of their experience or ability. I would aim to improve communication around fixtures, trials and competitions, making sure everyone knows how they can participate and represent Rudd. Ultimately, I want to help create a hall where people support one another, take pride in competing and enjoy being part of Rudd.

Jerry Ho

Hi,
I'm Jerry, and I'm expressing my interest in becoming one of Rutherford's Sports Secretaries. I'm currently on the badminton and volleyball IMS team. I've already run one badminton session on behalf of Andrew and Aiden. I used to play badminton competitively, and I would like to run badminton sessions, help our hall get a lot better in IMS and hopefully place near the top of IMS. I want to make sure people in Rutherford have fun with whatever sport they may be doing. Whether it's mixed sports, women's, men's or the ODEs. Making sure people have great memories during IMS sports is my priority.
I myself love playing sports and did more than a dozen tasters/ trials this year as a fresher. I want the chance to give more people the thrill and fun of playing sports that I've experienced here at Loughborough, through finding the fun in playing sports they have never played before, and building confidence in their abilities. Lastly, I hope to help Rutherford place even higher in IMS overall.

Jack Lassiter

In my first five weeks at Loughborough, the passion and importance surrounding intramural sport has been admirable. The feeling of pride when representing Rutherford has been exceptional and becoming Sports Secretary would be a huge honour.
With a strong desire to win, I would ensure that significant effort goes into planning effective training sessions, selecting teams fairly and giving everyone the opportunity to experience the pride I have felt when representing Rutherford.
If elected, I would aim to create an inclusive and enthusiastic sporting environment where everyone, regardless of ability or experience, feels encouraged to get involved. I would prioritise good communication, ensuring everyone is aware of upcoming fixtures, training sessions and opportunities to represent the hall.
I would also look to build on the existing sporting culture by encouraging greater participation, maintaining high standards of commitment and creating a strong sense of team spirit across all sports.
Ultimately, my aim would be to make Rutherford as competitive as possible while ensuring that everyone enjoys being part of the sporting community. I would bring enthusiasm, commitment and a genuine desire to make Rutherford successful.

Reia Paskaralingam

The reason I want to become sports sec is because I believe sport is an incredible tool in bringing people together which is something I’d love to be a part of and contribute towards. My biggest aim would be to get more girls to take part in both IMS and the ODE’s by emphasising that it’s all about trying something new and putting yourself out there. I know it can be quite intimidating especially in front of new people to try an unfamiliar sport which is why I think it’s important to make an extra effort to encourage anyone regardless of experience to try. I'm also confident in my ability to help manage and organise different teams because I have experience coaching netball and athletics.

Emefa Gbedemah

I’ve played, captained and coached sport for most of my life, alongside studying sports and exercise science. I’m passionate about making sport accessible, enjoyable and rewarding for everyone.
I’ve played netball for over 10 years, currently playing for Rutherford IMS. I also have experience umpiring, leading training sessions, and captaining my regional Division 1 netball team. Outside of netball, I’m a keen scuba diver and always up for playing or watching pretty much any sport. These experiences have developed my teamwork, organisation and ability to bring people together.
As Sports Sec, I’d love to increase both participation and success in inter-hall competitions, while making sure everyone feels encouraged to get involved, regardless of experience or ability. I’d aim to organise regular social sports sessions, introduce friendly competitions and celebrate individual and team achievements.
Ultimately, I want to add to the strong sporting community at Rutherford, get lots of people involved and bring home lots of wins!

Emma Parkinson

I would love to be a Sports Secretary for Rutherford, as I would promote IMS sport and try to get as much hall involvement as possible, making it fun and enjoyable for everyone. I will bring lots of energy to the role, showing up to support our teams (hopefully seeing them win!!) and participating when needed.
Organising teams and training sessions to get people involved in sport as much as possible is something I would love to be a part of. Having experienced how fun getting involved with IMS can be, I would love to be able to get everyone involved too, no matter ability or experience.
Lets make Rutherford the best it can be at sport - UP THE RUDD!!

Henry Childs

I’m running for sport SEC because I truly care about getting people involved and making sport one of the best parts of hall life for all abilities. I’ve been playing a variety of sports all my life and I believe it’s the best way to meet new people and create friendships that can’t be made elsewhere. Sport brings a sense of belonging, energy and passion that really embodies the hall life at Loughborough. I want to take that passion and use it to create a Rutherford culture of getting stuck in and trying new things. My goal as sport SEC would be to make sports for our hall as accessible, competitive and fun as possible. That means organised weekly training, clear communication between sport SECs and everyone in our hall, making sure we can put a team out for every event and ensuring every sport has the support it needs. I’ll bring energy, reliability and real commitment, the kind you need to build teams that don’t just show up, but show up together. I want our hall to be known for spirit, turnout, and the kind of energy where people feel proud to represent the RUDD. 🐮

Media & Stash Representative

The Media and Stash Representative will be the social media manager of the hall; Design a range of templates, stash and content for the hall; Take photographs of events and report the outcome; Attend Media & Stash meetings.

Sadie France

SADIE FOR SOCIALS
Hi, I’m Sadie!
I think Rutherford deserves a page that truly captures what it is like to live here. If elected, I’m offering:
1. Content that puts all other halls to shame!
2. Creativity- photo dumps from events and TikTok trends!
3. Community- I’d like to get everyone involved in our social media next year!
I know first-hand how nerve-racking it is to move to Uni, but I have also experienced the great atmosphere we have here at Rutherford, and that is exactly what I would use our pages for.
So if you want good vibes and good content…
Make Sadie your social media girl xo

Rag Representative

The Rag Representative will organise and run fundraising events; Promote LSU RAG events; Build volunteer teams for RAG raids; Signpost members who are completing their fundraising; Attend RAG meetings.

Lucas Ling

Hi I'm Lucas! As a RAG representative, I have the following goals, focusing on having well-run fundraising events that bring our hall members together, ensuring every activity is well-planned and enjoyable; Actively promote LSU RAG events across all our channels so no one misses out, while building passionate volunteer teams ready to tackle RAG raids; Being a reliable point of contact to answer questions and support anyone completing their fundraising goals.
Although fulfilling this role on the Rutherford committee can be challenging, I'll try my best to make sure events are down-to-earth and put in the work to help us reach our charity goals. Let's make a real difference together.

Action Representative

The Action Representative will promote volunteering opportunities within the Hall; supports student engagement in community initiatives; attending Action Hall Representative meetings; recruiting and supporting Hall volunteers; collaborating with Media Reps to publicise Action events.

Tim Drake

My volunteering journey began around four years ago when I began coaching cricket. Since then, I have taken part in many, varying volunteering projects such as working in schools, helping at events and continuing my sport coaching journey. Since joining Loughborough, I have also taken on the voluntary role of challenge leader for a Loughborough team attempting the Budapest marathon next year. With this in mind, I believe this action rep role is a natural step forward for me and that I have all the experience I need to be successful in this position. If elected, my aim is to increase volunteering participation in Rutherford. The main part of this will be through increased promotion and awareness of events and opportunities. I would also like to have a wider range of events in order to appeal to more people within the hall. This increased engagement would be not just beneficial to the local community, but also to all of our volunteers as I have personally found such opportunities to be incredibly rewarding. Up the Rudd!

Welfare & Diversity Representative

The Welfare & Diversity Representative will organise appropriate events; Promote LSU W&D events; To signpost wellbeing support within university; Ensure any in-hall events are appropriate; Attend Welfare & Diversity meetings.

Chalida Prapunwong

I believe that diversity and welfare is integral to creating a welcoming and inclusive community. Joining university is a time of change and can be difficult to navigate at first, so it is important to have people to help you through it. I am very appreciative of all the support I received when coming, and would like to carry this on, by being equally dedicated as the previous committee. I will ensure a supportive environment and create spaces that allow people to talk about their feelings. One of my plans, is to run fun events through the year, to teach about how we can better support ourselves and others through challenging times, for example, mental health runs, reading groups and nature walks.
