Jack Masterman

Hi, I’m Jack, a first-year Economics student, and I’m running for Vice-Chair & Treasurer. I want to make Harry French’s budget go further while delivering events residents enjoy.
Freshers showed how much hall socials can bring people together. I’d like to build on that by bringing more inter-hall events, giving residents more opportunities to meet new people.
If elected, I will:
* Plan ahead: Budget early for the Winter Ball, comparing costs to secure good value for the venue, meal and transport.
* Give you a say: Use polls to let residents influence the theme, menu and entertainment.
* Bring halls together: Work with other halls on Refreshers socials, sharing costs and creating more opportunities to socialise.
* Spend responsibly: Compare supplier quotes for major purchases wherever possible and track event costs to help identify what offers the best value.
* Keep you informed: Circulate clear meeting minutes within 48 hours and help ensure committee decisions are followed through.
I’ll work closely with the Chair and other committee members to manage our budget responsibly, keep the committee organised and make the most of the resources available to Harry French.

Social Secretary

The social secretary will be required to be responsible for all social activities of the hall, providing a range of different events; Work with external partners to organise events and promote Local Businesses in Loughborough; Responsible for Hall Day, Winter and Summer Ball, Freshers and Re-Freshers; Consult and work closely with Warden team and Chairs.

Isaac Hutchins-Morant

If elected to the Harry French committee, I would aim to maintain the strong sense of community we have as a hall.
In order to do so, I'd prioritise a mix of various sporting events and more typically creative things for our hall mates to do.
Up Harry French!

Theo Sarker

If elected as Social Sectary next year, I would aim to make the socials more memorable and inclusive. A couple of examples would be, a fun run against another or multiple halls and themed events at the Harry French common room such as group flat costumes a Wild West night, Great Gatsby themed party . For individuals who do not drink I would host small sports events, board games nights, a pool and table tennis competition, a trivia night, mafia night with hosted events in the common room and collaborations with societies. Another important thing would be to try to improve the social media for Harry French, for freshers to feel more excited to come to Harry French. Local businesses we could collab with could be a pub quiz at the Jam Garden, or a karaoke night at the tap and clapper. Overall, if I were elected as social sectary next year I would aim to include as many people as possible and do as many events both in the common room and with business in the area.

Mohammad Arshad

Hi, I’m Mohammad, and I’m running for Social Secretary to make Harry French a hall where everyone belongs, whatever their idea of a good social is.
If elected, I will:
1) Run weekly movie nights in the Common Room.
2) Push for a proper pool table in the Common Room, working with the Warden team and Chairs on cost and approval.
3) Hold fortnightly charity bake sales supporting a cause chosen by you.
4) Negotiate student discounts with Loughborough businesses, helping local firms while saving you money!
5) Organise monthly hikes to scenic places, starting nearby in Charnwood Forest and the Peak District, with trips further afield such as Wales when budget allows.
6) Host a Hall Day lawn takeover, inviting local food vendors to bring different cuisines to the lawn.
7) Celebrate Culture Day, where we share our backgrounds through clothing, food and stories.
8) Deliver a Winter and Summer Ball with student-voted themes and transparent budgets.
9) Run Freshers and Re-Freshers with daytime, alcohol-free and party events so everyone finds their crowd.

Sports Secretary

(3 positions available) The Sports Secretary will promote Intramural sport; Organise teams for ODE's and weekly league games; Manage sales and inventory of IMS kit; Book sports pitches for training and additional events; Attend trainings and meetings training.

Edward Redshaw

I am running for Sport Secretary because I want to continue making sport in Harry French an enjoyable experience and give everyone the opportunity to get involved.
As an international-level competitive swimmer, I understand the commitment, teamwork, and dedication that sport requires. I want to use my experience to encourage participation, build team spirit, and help Harry French succeed.
If elected, I will focus on this:
- More opportunities: Encourage participation in IMS competitions and organise sporting activities for people of all abilities and experience levels.
- Build a stronger sense of community by encouraging residents to represent our hall, support one another, and get involved in competitions.
- Make sport accessible and enjoyable for everyone, whether you're a competitive athlete or simply looking to try something new and meet people.
I'll listen to residents' ideas and work with the committee to make sport an enjoyable and rewarding part of university life.
Ultimately, I want to help Harry French compete, bring people together, and create an environment where everyone feels proud to be involved.

Ola Adeyemi

I'm very passionate about sports and a strong advocate for doing any physical activity, and as a sports sec I will make an effort to put reminders on for events like the ODEs more frequent and encourage people to participate. These reminders will also include descriptions of the sport so everyone has a baseline understanding of the sport before they decide to participate. I will also put up a notice board within the common room to remind people of fixtures and other sports related events.
And if it's within the budget, I will also try to provide a taster session for the sport, before the actual ODE event, to provide an even more relaxed environment to play sports with your HF community, or even use it as an opportunity to practice before the competition.

Henry Morgan

Hi, I'm a first year Management student and I'm nominating myself for this role because sport has always been an integral part of my life, from a young age I rarely went a weekend without playing either football or rugby whether that was for my local town or representing my school. My biggest achievement was playing for my school's 1st XI football team, in my final year at school and since then I've been getting involved in football, badminton, IMS rugby and dabbling in a bit of spike ball at Loughborough. I've also completed a level 2 sports qualification, giving me experience in organising and leading sporting activities. I would aim to bring passion and a real sense of competition to as many IMS events and ODEs as I can. I would aim to communicate across to students that IMS sport is accessible to everyone regardless of experience and ability. Organising socials is something I would also always be keen to do to help build team spirit within the teams which will boost team performance and morale. Ultimately I want to help make Harry French a hall where everyone feels part of a team, both on and off the pitch.

Samantha Phan

Hi! My name is Sam and I'd love to be one of the Sports Secretaries! I love being active and getting involved with sports. I played competitive soccer growing up and love any chance I get to play. I also love trying new sports from squash to basketball and any chance to be active and outside. One of my favorite things about sports are the ability they have to bring people together and build community. As a sports secretary my main goal would be to create a welcoming and fun team that anyone and everyone could be a part of no matter the level, interest, or background. Some of my best friends have come from my teammates, and some of my best memories have come from the field. See you on the pitch!

Taylor McCrea

Hi everyone, I'm Taylor and I'm running for Sports Secretary.Since coming to Harry French, sport has been one of the best ways to meet people, make friends and get involved in hall life. As someone who plays both football and rugby, I know how much being part of a team can improve your university experience and create some of your best memories. lf elected, I want to get more people involved in IMS and hall sport by ensuring everyone knows about opportunities to play and represent Harry French. Also, the opportunities to play sports that they haven’t participated in before! Whether you're competitive or just looking to have fun, I want everyone to feel welcome getting involved.I'll keep communication clear, organise teams and kit efficiently for ODEs and weekly fixtures, and ensure everyone has access to the equipment they need.I'll also be proactive with pitch bookings so Harry French is well placed to secure facilities for training, fixtures and sports socials throughout the year. Most importantly, I want to help Harry French compete for trophies. We have plenty of talent in this hall, and I want to bring people together, increase participation and build a winning culture that everyone can be proud of.Back Taylor. Back Harry French. Let's bring home the trophies.

Amy Burrows

Hi I do industrial design and am in my final year. I have run the badminton for the last 2 years and know that this will help me organise other sessions. I’m available in the week but not at weekends to do ode’s. I appreciate the time taken to set this up and thank you.

Ella Hutton

I believe I would be a perfect fit for Harry French Sport Sec as I would aim to:
-Increase participation by encouraging more people to get involved in IMS and other university sporting opportunities, regardless of experience or ability.
-Make sport more social by organising regular, fun and accessible sporting activities, giving everyone the chance to get involved, even if they aren't particularly sporty!!!
-Improve communication by keeping everyone updated on upcoming fixtures, trials, events and opportunities to represent Harry French.
And finally, build a team spirit by encouraging support at matches and create a stronger sense of pride in representing HARRY FRENCH!!
I would be approachable, organised and always open to suggestions from residents about what sporting activities they would like to see!! UP THE HARRY FRENCH

James Briers

If I were to get the position of Sports Sec for Harry French, my main aim would be to promote all aspects of getting involved in sport at Loughborough, as well as the benefits of attending events and making the most of opportunities to compete for Harry French whenever they arise. I would do this by helping to advertise events run by the university, such as IMS competitions and ODEs, making sure people know what is available and encouraging more people to take part. I would also look to make these opportunities more accessible to everyone, regardless of their sporting background or experience, so that nobody feels they have to be particularly good at a sport to get involved. In addition, I would encourage people to explore the different sporting options at Loughborough and push themselves to try something new. Sport is a great way to build confidence, meet new people and make friendships with people from different backgrounds. Finally, I would share my own experience of sport at Loughborough, having tried everything from AU trials to random ODEs, and how much I have enjoyed the experience so far. I hope to use this enthusiasm to get more people involved and help make sport an even bigger part of life at Harry French.

I believe a strong community is one where everyone feels welcomed, respected, heard and included\.

My experience at LSE Summer School, alongside students from over 110 nationalities, strengthened my appreciation for different cultures, backgrounds and perspectives\.
I’m naturally approachable, enjoy connecting with people and genuinely care about their wellbeing\. My debating experience has taught me to listen to different viewpoints, communicate respectfully and work towards common ground\.
If elected, I aim to:
- **Create inclusive events** that bring residents together, including relaxed, alcohol\-free social activities\.
- **Be an approachable representative** who listens to residents’ concerns and helps direct them towards appropriate university wellbeing services\.
- **Promote welfare and diversity initiatives** so residents are aware of available support and opportunities\.
- **Encourage a respectful, welcoming environment** where everyone feels comfortable participating\.
My goal is simple: to help make Harry French not just a place to live, but a community where everyone feels they belong\.

Sagar Venkatramani

I am running to be your Welfare and Diversity Representative because I believe everyone deserves to feel welcomed, included and supported at Harry French. University is an exciting experience, but it can also be challenging, and I want to help make sure that everyone feels they have someone to turn to.
If elected, my priorities will be:
1. Student Wellbeing: I want to encourage open conversations about mental health, promote awareness of available support and creates this opportunities for students to relax, socialise and look after their wellbeing.
2. Diversity and Inclusion: I want to celebrate the different cultures, backgrounds and identities that make Harry French special. I will encourage inclusive events where everyone feels comfortable being themselves, regardless of their background or circumstances.
3. Student Voice: I want to be an approachable representative who genuinely listens to your concerns, takes your feedback seriously and makes sure everyone's opinions are heard, not just the loudest voices.
I am not running just to have a title; I am running because I want to make a positive difference to our community.
My goal is simple: to make Harry French a place where everyone feels valued, respected and, most importantly, at home.
Vote for me – because everyone deserves to belong!

Media & Stash Representative

The Media and Stash Representative will be the social media manager of the hall; Design a range of templates, stash and content for the hall; Take photographs of events and report the outcome; Attend Media & Stash meetings.

Tevez Humphrey

I have done extensive work within the media before whether it be creating content for my school or a much more enjoyable experience, working for a football club. Furthermore I have a strong eye for photography and those top quality videography skills have and will definitely come in handy if I am successful. My design skills align with that of Michelangelo (the painter not the ninja turtle). Onto what I can bring to the table apart from good food combos (trust me on that) I will ensure that no matter how ill I am I will continue to spread media (just not the illness) all year round I’m there to capture as many moments as humanly possible. And to sum it all up if elected all aspects of socials and Harry French life will have a sharp mind and camera behind it with a whole load of new media perspectives. Thanks for reading this essay on top of all your key readings, appreciate it.
