Welcome to Butler Court
Located in East Park, near the School of Design and Creative Arts and our rugby pitches. Butler Court is a very tight knit community where morale is high and there is a great social life. Everyone knows everyone! Butler Courts hosts so many events planned by the Social, Welfare, Rag representatives and more. The hall is named after Sir Clifford Butler, Vice-Chancellor of the University from 1975-1985.

Elections will be run online via Microsoft Forms to nominate and vote for positions.

Vice-Chair
The Vice-Chair will assist the chair with their day-to-day tasks; Assign an individual to chair AGMs, HGMs; record all minutes from every Hall and Committee meeting and make them available to all hall members; collate Meeting agendas; being prepared to act as Hall Chair where the Chair is unavailable.
Theo Fisher
I want to be the voice of the people here at Butler Court. I believe that everyone has a voice, especially considering how hot headed young people such as ourselves can get when things don't go our way when we're in such a tight nit community. I plan to help develop systems which allow for people to interact with each other democratically so that everyone has an equal opportunity to enjoy their time here at the University without impeding on others. I will also hold votes to decide what accommodation events are run so that us 1st years can participate in activities that we actually care about. I will also make it my duty to ensure that everyone on the committee doesn’t feel overwhelmed taking up their positions alongside their studies and will offer my support to everyone so that they can have an enjoyable experience here. Here at Butlers Court, no one will go unnoticed, unheard, or uncared for.
Treasurer
The Treasurer will create and manage the hall budget in partnership with other committee members; manage purchasing and spending across sections.
Matthew Andrews
What good is spending if it doesn't benefit the lives of those in Butler?
My mission is to ensure the money that we do have will be used for the benefit of all Butler residents. I want to know where you believe things could be better, and then we can arrange everything in Butler around you!
I'm not going to lie to you, I cannot help you get cheaper rent or better boilers, and no committee member will ever be able to.
But if you vote me, I will be able to help the other committee members to create the hall that you want to live in. I love Butler, but it could be better. And I plan to make it better by shaping the spending around the actual needs of those who live here.
Social Secretary
The social secretary will be required to be responsible for all social activities of the hall, providing a range of different events; Work with external partners to organise events and promote Local Businesses in Loughborough; Responsible for Hall Day, Winter and Summer Ball, Freshers and Re-Freshers; Consult and work closely with Warden team and Chairs.
Kiran Slatter
I want to make sure we have a year full of great nights out, questionable dance moves and memories (even if some are a little blurry).
From Freshers and Hall Day to the Winter and Summer Balls, I’ll bring plenty of enthusiasm and make sure there’s a good mix of socials, parties and events for everyone.
Sports Secretary
(2 positions available) The Sports Secretary will promote Intramural sport; Organise teams for ODE's and weekly league games; Manage sales and inventory of IMS kit; Book sports pitches for training and additional events; Attend trainings and meetings training.
James Pratt
I will create enjoyment and fun for all, by setting up exciting sports events for everyone to participate in and to get involved with sport here in Butler. I've been in multiple leadership positions before, as well as being a qualified tennis coach for 5 years, which reflects my strong organisational skills. I know how to speak in front of a group of people, and, although being a fresher, I have already partaken in tennis coaching 5 days a week as part of the CVA in addition to organising weekly social football and padel for 20+ people in Butler Court. With me as your new sports sec, you can guarantee there will be sporting opportunities for everyone, and we can maintain the legacy of being a top sporting accommodation.
Jaici Warren-Brownhill
IMS at Butler is a great community to be apart of, no matter the result, Butler do themselves proud. I want to continue this community and increase the diversity within the teams and create an environment that allows an easy breakaway from academics. Playing and coaching basketball does this for me and I want others to experience the benefits of sport. As a sports secretary I want to increase the female uptake within the events, as well as numbers as a whole. I want to extend the Butler sport community and allow you to gain greater skills, experience and confidence and have fun whilst doing so. Sessions and activities are all ability friendly, and I want to ensure that each training session and fixtures focuses on having fun and building the Butler community.
William Whiting
I am running for Sports Secretary because I want to make our hall more competitive, active, and involved in sports.

Action Representative
(2 positions available) The Action Representative will promote volunteering opportunities within the Hall; supports student engagement in community initiatives; attending Action Hall Representative meetings; recruiting and supporting Hall volunteers; collaborating with Media Reps to publicise Action events.
Media and Stash Representative
The Media and Stash Representative will be the social media manager of the hall; Design a range of templates, stash and content for the hall; Take photographs of events and report the outcome; Attend Media & Stash meetings
Rag Representative
(2 positions available) The Rag Representative will organise and run fundraising events; Promote LSU RAG events; Build volunteer teams for RAG raids; Signpost members who are completing their fundraising; Attend RAG meetings.
Enterprise Representative
The Enterprise Representative will promote and signpost hall members to Loughborough enterprise network events and workshops; build volunteer teams of hall members for LEN; organise hall events that promote entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial skills; attend enterprise meetings and trainings.
Campus & Sustainability Representative
The Campus & Sustainability Representative will teach and promote an environmentally sustainable lifestyle to all hall residents; Attend monthly Sustainability and Campus Hall Representative meetings; Attend termly Estates and Facilities management meetings; Organise campaigns and events that raise awareness of environmental issues or take relevant direct action.

- (January/ February) Refreshers – Bringing back the favourite events of Welcome between semester break.
- (February/March) Spring Elections - Nominate yourself/ vote for upcoming hall committee
- (April/May) Hall Day – Outdoor fun-filled day with inflatables, games and food.
- (May/June) Summer Ball – Formal social including a meal and transport.
- IMS events and other themed activities will also be available throughout the year.
All Butler Court social media channels are student-led through the hall's committee.
New residents will receive a communication from the university about official chat groups. Be cautious regarding any groups not endorsed directly by your Halls of Residence.
